Goodbye IE6

Google stops supporting IE6

IE6 was release in 2001, yet a surprising number of computers are still running this archaic web browser. Numerous groups have popped up advocating the end of using (and supporting) IE6, such as ie6nomore.com and stopie6.com. At Loewen Consulting, we have dealt with the frustration of developing websites for this web-browser which refused to follow web standards. Because of its age, it is also very insecure, and was a factor in the recent attack on Google from a location in China. Now, Google has announced that it will no longer support IE6 for its Google Documents platform, and will start scaling back support within GMail and Google Calendars. Perhaps this is the beginning of the end for a browser long past its prime.
