Windows XP

Support for Windows XP SP2 ending

You will soon be hearing that Windows XP is being discontinued. There are elements of truth to this. Of course, Windows XP is not the most current Microsoft operating system (Windows 7 is), but it has not been abandoned. On July 13, 2010, Microsoft will stop supporting Windows XP SP2. SP2 stands for "Service Pack 2". The most recent Service Pack is SP3, which is a free download from Microsoft, and it will continue to receive security updates until 2014. So, as long as you have upgraded to SP3 (which may have happened automatically), you should be fine for another 4 years (which is pretty long in computer-years).
